Yamaha introduces the new DM5 Series

Yamaha Professional Audio expands its digital mixing portfolio with the new DM5 Series, consisting of the DM5 and DM5 Compact, together with three new R Series Utility I/O units. The new products are designed for applications including live sound, corporate AV, theatre, houses of worship, broadcast and fixed installations. With the DM5 Series, Yamaha brings much of the workflow, flexibility and operating philosophy of the DM7 Series to a more compact format.

Yamaha DM5 and DM5 Compact

The new Yamaha DM5 and DM5 Compact are designed for applications where professional audio quality, extensive connectivity and an efficient workflow need to be combined with a relatively compact console.

The DM5 offers 60 input channels, 32 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs. The more compact DM5 Compact provides 48 input channels, 16 analog inputs and 16 analog outputs. Both consoles support up to 64 channels of Dante I/O at 96 kHz, 24 mix buses, 12 matrices, two stereo buses and 12 DCAs.

A key part of the new control surface is the combination of 13.3-inch touchscreens and Yamaha’s new glass keys. These combine tactile operation with dynamic function assignment, allowing the available controls to adapt to the current mixer function and workflow. Additional touchscreens, User Defined controls and adjustable display angles provide further flexibility during operation.

The DM5 Series also offers extensive processing capabilities, including built-in effects, Dugan automixing and support for optional PY expansion cards for additional processing and connectivity.

New Yamaha R Series Utility I/O

Alongside the DM5 Series, Yamaha is introducing three new Dante-compatible I/O solutions:

- RUio1608SB-D: compact stagebox with 16 analog inputs and 8 analog outputs
- RUio0804-D: compact 1U I/O unit with 8 analog inputs and 4 analog outputs
- RUio16FLX-D: flexible 16-channel I/O unit with channels configurable as analog input, analog output or AES/EBU output

The new RUio models are designed as flexible additions to Yamaha digital mixing systems and Dante networks. Existing Yamaha R Series I/O units can also be used in many configurations with the new DM5 Series, making the platform especially interesting for users looking to expand or modernize an existing Yamaha system.

A scalable Yamaha ecosystem

With the introduction of the DM5 Series, Yamaha further strengthens the space between compact digital mixers such as the DM3 and larger systems such as the DM7 and RIVAGE PM Series.

For rental companies, theatres, event venues, corporate AV, system integrators and fixed installations, the combination of Dante networking, Yamaha workflow, extensive processing and compatibility with existing R Series I/O is particularly valuable.
